Panza 2 1 Geophysical institute Sofia Bulgaria 2 DST University of Trieste and SANG group ICTP Trieste Italy Summary A set of shear-wave velocity models of the lithosphere-asthenosphere system in southeast Carpathians is determined by non-linear inversion of surface wave group velocity data. The local dispersion curves are constructed for the period range 10 -150 s combining regional and global Rayleigh wave group velocity data. The lithosphere-asthenosphere velocity structure is reliably reconstructed to depths of about 250 km. The
